Introducing District Governor Raleigh Peck: A Journey of Dedication and Service

A Legacy of Service and Community

District Governor Raleigh Peck’s story is one of perseverance, community spirit, and unwavering dedication to service. Born in the small town of Scobey, Montana, Raleigh’s journey is marked by his deep-rooted connection to his home state and his commitment to making a difference.

Early Life in Montana

Raleigh Peck was the youngest of three boys. His early years were spent in the quaint town of Scobey, but at the tender age of three, his family relocated to the bustling city of Great Falls, Montana. It was here that Raleigh attended grade school and began to cultivate his sense of curiosity and ambition.

The Move to Glasgow

The Peck family later moved to Glasgow Air Force Base (AFB), Montana, where Raleigh continued his education. He attended junior high and graduated from Glasgow Senior High in 1980. These formative years in Glasgow were pivotal, shaping Raleigh’s values and work ethic.

Education in the Oilfields

Post-graduation, Raleigh’s education took a non-traditional route. He worked in the oilfields of Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota, gaining invaluable hands-on experience. This period was characterized by hard work, resilience, and learning the intricacies of the oil industry. When the oil boom eventually subsided, Raleigh transitioned to various roles, including working in tire and muffler shops.

A Leap into Entrepreneurship

In 1985, Raleigh took a significant step in his career by joining a regional auto parts supply store. Over the next 15 years, he immersed himself in the business, acquiring critical knowledge and skills. In July 2000, Raleigh seized the opportunity to purchase his own business, transforming the local RadioShack franchise into ElectricLand, Inc. For the next 22 years, Raleigh became a local icon, affectionately known as “Raleigh, Raleigh, Raleigh from ElectricLand.” His dedication to his business and his community was evident, and he left a lasting impact before selling the store to an employee in January 2023.

Family Life and Personal Milestones

Raleigh’s personal life is as rich and fulfilling as his professional one. In 1982, he met Deb Etzel, and the two have been inseparable ever since. Married in 1984, Raleigh and Deb have raised five incredibly smart children: son Rory, daughter Keelia, and triplet daughters Alyssa, Briana, and Courtney. Their family has expanded to include five grandchildren: Zoey, Oliver, and Sophia in Fresno, CA, and Riley and Addison in Lockwood, MT.

Becoming a Lion

Raleigh’s journey with the Lions Clubs began in 2001 when he was recruited by the Sidney Lions Club. His passion for service quickly propelled him through the ranks, serving as Vice President and President, and even stepping in as a fill-in President when needed. Raleigh’s favorite role has been Tail Twister, where he has served for several years, bringing joy and enthusiasm to his fellow Lions. Additionally, he has served as Eastern Region Chair and is a proud Melvin Jones Fellow, as well as a recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Medal.

Leadership as District Governor
